Theo James explains how his ‘best work’ was ‘destroyed’

Theo James reflected on the best acting he did on a project, but it all went downhill too quickly.

James, who played the romantic Henry DeTamble, in The wife of the time traveler, shared during a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter about the series, which was canceled after one season.

“I was playing against myself,” the 39-year-old actor said about doing scenes opposite himself after Anthony Mackie opened up about his.

“I put everything into it – some of my best work. I didn’t see the show before the premiere because everyone at the time was like, “F–k yeah!” This is fucking amazing!’”

He continued, “I have a good feeling about this! I remember going to the bar before the premiere and looking at my phone. It was The New York Times and I thought, ‘Oh God. Oh God. I think I’ll have another drink.’ Then I had to get to the thing that was fucking destroyed.

The character of James in the science fiction TV series has a genetic order that causes him to sporadically travel through time when stressed.

HBO’s TV adaptation, which was based on the 2003 novel of the same name, followed the 2009 film starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana.

Although the series received positive reviews, it was canceled following the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery.
