40 of Uganda have the second lowest team total in the Men’s T20 World Cup, just one more than their and the Netherlands’ joint record. There have been seven instances of a team being bowled out for less than 60 runs in the T20 World Cup, four of which have come in the current edition, with Uganda accounting for three of them.

This was the 10th all-out total for 100 or lower in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the most in a single edition. There were eight such cases in 2014 and 2021.

88 balls was left as New Zealand blasted the 41-run target, making it the third-highest winning margin by that benchmark in the Men’s T20 World Cup. This came after England completed their 48-run chase against Oman in a record 19 balls some 24 hours earlier. It was also the biggest win for New Zealand in terms of balls remaining in all T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 74 against Kenya in Durban in the first T20 World Cup in 2007.

10 Ronak Patel’s strike rate of 10 (2 off 20) is the lowest in a T20 Men’s World Cup innings, followed by Brian Masaba’s 15 (3* off 20) for at least 20 balls played. 4 runs Conceded by Tim Southee (3/4) made it the most economical four-over period in the T20 World Cup, alongside Uganda’s Frank Nsubuga, who had returned at 2/4 against PNG in Guyana earlier this month. Trent Boult, who finished 2/7, is in joint second place, alongside South Africa’s Anrich Nortje, who had taken 4/7 in South Africa’s opening match against Sri Lanka in New York.

4 runs conceded by Southee is also the least shared in a four-over T20I period with a full-member squad, next to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 5/4 against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup. The New Zealand record was previously owned by Daniel Vettori: 3 /6 against Bangladesh in Hamilton in 2010.

11 runs allowed by Boult and Southee together is the second lowest for an opening bowling pair in a Men’s T20I (with two full four-over spells). They conceded only one point more than the ten that Mohammad Kamran (4/4) and Atif Mehmood (4/6) conceded for Spain against the Isle of Man in Cartagena last year. The previous T20 World Cup record was 25 runs, jointly held by Dale Steyn (1/9) and Morne Morkel (2/16) against Zimbabwe at Hambantota in 2012 and Boult (4/13) and Southee (1/12) against Sri Lanka in Sydney in 2022.

3New Zealand bowlers – Southee, Boult and Lockie Ferguson – conceded less than 10 runs in their respective four-over spells. It was the second in the men’s T20s and the first in the internationals. The only previous instance in the men’s T20s was Piyush Chawla (3/4), Tejas Patel (2/6) and Chintan Gaja (2/8) for Gujarat against Sikkim in Surat during the 2019/20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

3 girls supplied by New Zealand – one each by Boult, Southee and Rachin Ravindra – is a joint record in the T20 World Cup, a feat previously achieved three times. It was only the second time that three different bowlers had bowled a maiden in a T20 World Cup innings, after Vivian Kingma, Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren did so against South Africa in New York last week.
