Film Producers Association visits Enugu Governor Peter Mbah – Guardian Nigeria News

It was the first visit of a Nollywood guild or association with national spread and the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, personally received the Chairman of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Amb. Dr. Queen Blessing Ebigieson and her team of national and state administrators and stakeholders at the Enugu State Government House. According to the AMP President, the visit was to discuss important needs of producers in the state and beyond.

The delegation discussed the need for the state government to encourage investment in setting up community cinemas to bridge the gap that the absence of DVDs and VCDs has created between practitioners and “a very large part of our local market.”

The AMP President also said: “It was necessary to meet the ever working Governor of Enugu State to also alert him to the direction the film industry should take in Enugu State at this time,” Queen Ebigieson revealed in a A statement she personally made shortly after the visit, stating that the delegation discussed the need for support in terms of financing and the need for some form of incentives, including discounts for cast and crew at owned hotels the state government and security for the cast and crew.

Reacting, the governor thanked the delegation for the visit and assured that steps would be taken to make the state “film production friendly” for the vibrant Nollywood industry. The governor who commended film producers for their contribution to the country’s GDP and efforts in job creation, also assured that all security measures have been put in place to make the state one of the most peaceful states. Impressed by the Governor’s response, the AMP Chairman said the delegation was optimistic that they would soon see good results based on the outcome of the discussions.
