Home Minister Anitha Vanglapudi promises to take tough action against ganja smugglers and ensure safety of women

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi announced a strong stand against ganja smugglers and suppliers in the state and highlighted the commitment of the Telugu Desam government to prioritize the safety of girls.

Anitha emphasized that violence against women is a tool to spread fear and must be tackled rigorously. She affirmed that the TDP government would seek advice from women’s organizations to improve measures for women’s safety.

Anitha criticized the previous YSR Congress Party government and lamented the creation of illusions about the non-existence of the Disha Act. She assured that the current government would not take partisan action against police officers and emphasized their responsibility to bring offenders to justice. Police officers are advised by law to work for the people, she said.

Addressing the issues faced by police officers under the previous regime, Anitha promised that the TDP government would resolve all issues related to salaries and dues. Revealing plans to reform the police department at the lower levels, she recalled a past incident where the police filed a brutality case against her. She accused many IPS officers of acting as henchmen for Jagan and the YSRCP, which has led to a loss of respect for the police in the last five years.

The Home Minister clarified that the new TDP regime would help restore the respect of the IPS and police officers. But she also warned them to strictly adhere to the law. She urged the police to ignore officials who are still influenced by YSRCP ideologies and take strong action against those who commit injustice.
