Body of gang rape accused found hanging from tree in UP’s Bareilly, family alleges murder | India News

Bareilly police have arrested four persons for the murder of a 23-year-old gang rape accused, whose body was found hanging from a tree on Friday. Police said the deceased was among three persons booked in a gang rape case three days ago.

The complainant in the gang rape case had alleged that the accused had taken an objectionable photo of his sister while she was bathing and sexually harassed her based on those photos.

On Friday, police were notified that the body of a man had been found hanging from a tree. During investigation, police found out that he belonged to a neighboring village and later realized that he was one of the accused in the gang rape case.

The relatives of the deceased rushed to the spot and staged a protest. The man’s father said a youth came to their home Thursday evening and took his son away in a car. The father also said there were three people already in the car.

The deceased’s family members also told the police that a false gang rape case had been filed against their son due to an old enmity with a family in their village.

Based on the complaint of the father of the deceased, a case has been filed against three members of the family with whom they are said to have enmity. The persons named in the FIR also include the elder brother of the gang rape survivor.

No one has been arrested in the murder case so far, police said.

“The police are investigating the case from all sides. We have received the post-mortem report stating the cause of death as hanging. We are investigating the family’s allegations,” said the police official of the concerned police station in Bareilly.
