In a recent episode of the Toke Moments podcast, Nnani emphasized the need for a thoughtful approach to the wedding day.

Akah Nnani explained:

“While talking to my wife one day, it struck me that all the people who say ‘God when’ throw the biggest parties and dance on their wedding day. But actually a wedding day should be a gloomy day. If we understand what we are doing and what we are getting into, it is meant to be a day of gloom.”

Nnani suggested that couples should re-evaluate their expectations and beliefs to strengthen their marriages, stressing that there is more depth to marriages than what meets the eye.

He also mentioned the importance of thinking about their relationship even as families celebrate.

“The families can rejoice because one family will have a daughter and the other will have a son. They can celebrate, but the couple must be sad because they’re saying, “I’m giving up my independence to live my life with this person.” It is a commitment to a lifetime of service and love.”

Akah Nnani added:

“It’s a somber day of reflection, like ‘Wow, I’m giving away my independence.’ If you understand what you’re doing, you shouldn’t dance wildly on your wedding day. People go into marriage with the wrong expectations and belief systems.”
