1:00 PM CT +114 NC State vs. Kentucky -145

LIKELY PITCHES

NC State: Trey Pooser Grad RHP 7-1, 3.46 ERA, 79 K, 33 BB, 83.1 IP, 3.78 SIERA

Kentucky: Sam Highfill Grad RHP: 7-2, 5.02 ERA, 75 K, 41 BB, 80 IP, 4.50 SIERA

Kentucky, co-champions of the SEC Regular Season, is a great fit for Charles Schwab Field. The Wildcats can hit the long ball, but don’t rely on it like many teams in this year’s field. Instead, they have a knack for getting on base, and production is coming along with near-perfect baserunning. UK is 19th in steals per game and T-38th in wRC+ with a 117.

How can I not bring up the 2021 Revenge Tour storyline for NC State? The Wolf Pack finished the season on a 16-5 run in their final 21 games to return to the scene of the crime. A huge reason for that is their young trio of relief arms: Jacob Dudan, Derrick Smith and Cooper Consiglio. They have a combined ERA of 2.36 in those 21 games (53.1 IP).

However, I’m not sure NC State will be able to take the lead if they turn to their rolling pin. NCSU’s starting pitcher, Sam Highfill, hasn’t been great lately. He has a 5.69 ERA over his last six starts. Take on British starting pitcher Trey Pooser, who has an ERA of 0.47 in the postseason this year. Look for the Cats to take and maintain an early lead. Maybe grab the First 5 Innings ML when it opens.

The bet: -145 Kentucky ML

6pm CT +124 Florida vs. Texas A&M -160

LIKELY PITCHES

Florida: Liam Peterson FR RHP: 3-4, 5.97 ERA, 72 K, 36 BB, 60.1 IP, 3.77 SIERA, 6.21 ERA L3 ST

Texas A&M: Justin Lamkin SO LHP: 2-2, 5.73 ERA, 71 K, 19 BB, 55 IP, 2.74 SIERA

Texas A&M’s moneyline in this matchup has plummeted since the opening. There are two main reasons for this: Braden Montgomery’s broken ankle and the fact that Ryan Prager, A&M’s Ace, is not starting this match.

Even without BMont, Texas A&M has one of the best scoring offenses with a great defense. Kaedon Kent, Montgomery’s replacement, happens to be the son of former MLB MVP Jeff Kent. During Saturday’s Super Regional match, Kent achieved a Grand Slam.

That said, Ryan Prager’s absence has a huge impact. Justin Lamkin gets the ball first and he has a 12.56 ERA in his last four appearances. Florida’s starting pitcher, true freshman Liam Peterson, was also in tough form in the postseason. Peterson has a 6.21 ERA in his last three games (SEC Tournament, Regionals and Super Regionals).

Florida’s offense could pack a punch. TThey have hit 125 home runs, which is sixth most nationally, and their offense is generally popular. At the plate, the Aggies will also be able to counter with a decent amount of runs (.973 Team OPS, 128 wRC+).

However, there is one caveat. We expect a strong wind from the outfield, which would limit the long ball for both offenses. Both bullpens are good and could potentially get in the way of the overs during the late innings. But the potential of two eruptions is too great not to test the over. If we see a total market in the first five innings, jump over it.

The Bet: -115 Florida / Texas A&M Over 11
