The Taraba Judicial Services Commission applauds Kefas government for the higher operating costs

The Taraba State Judicial Service Commission has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for the speedy release of the commission’s increased operating costs.

Barr. Talatu Abubakar Jen, the Executive Secretary of the commission, gave the commendation while speaking with journalists in Jalingo.

Abubakar said the increased operating costs for the Commission have facilitated the smooth conduct of routine activities of the Commission such as promotional interviews for staff of the judiciary, training and office maintenance.

According to her, the inclusion of the Commission staff in the schedule of workshops and training at the National Judicial Institute Abuja, as well as the appointment of two new members by the Governor to meet the constitutional requirements for the composition of the Commission, was a commendable effort by the governor to reposition the state’s justice system. This is just an observation which she said was reached through a memorandum from the Chairman/Chief Justice, Justice Joel Agya.

The Executive Secretary also announced that, upon the recommendation of the State Judicial Service Commission, three judges of the State High Court and two judges of the State Customary Court of Appeal have been appointed.

The Commission, however, appealed to Governor Kefas to provide them with vehicles for non-ex officio members, and an official commercial vehicle for the Secretary of the Commission.

“We wish to commend Governor Agbu Kefas for the swift release of increased running charges for the Judicial Service Commission. The running costs have facilitated the smooth running of the Commission’s routine activities, such as promotion interviews for judiciary staff, training and office maintenance.

“The committee has witnessed remarkable achievements within a year under Governor Kefas and wishes to sincerely commend the governor for his efforts to reposition the state’s judicial system.

“The achievements recorded within a year include the inclusion of the Commission staff in the schedule of workshops and training at the National Judicial Institute Abuja, and the appointment of two new members to meet the constitutional requirements for the composition of the Commission. This was achieved through a memorandum from the Chairman/Chief Justice, Justice Joel Agya.

“On the recommendation of the State Judicial Service Commission, three judges of the State High Court and two judges of the State Customary Court of Appeal were appointed.

“We would like to insist that despite the successes, the committee still faces some limitations. We would like to request a vehicle for non-ex officio members of the committee and an official company vehicle for the secretary.” The committee appealed.
