Bantwal, June 15: MLA Rajesh Naik has condemned the state government’s decision to abruptly increase tax on petrol and diesel by 4%, describing it as a burden on the people.

Naik criticized the policies of the state Congress government and accused it of betraying the public by gaining power through guarantee schemes and then depleting the state coffers. He claimed that the government is now shocking the public with tax hikes.

Naik alleged that since coming to power, the Congress government has increased taxes on everything and misled the people under the guise of providing freebies, leading to higher financial burden. He also expressed concern that law and order has deteriorated under the current government.

With the recent increase in fuel tax, Naik warned that the cost of essential goods would double, significantly impacting people’s daily lives.
