Bradenton had 10,000 gallons of sewage on its streets

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – On June 12, the city of Bradenton experienced a variable frequency drive and float failure.

Because there was an obstacle at lift station No. 18, the sewage overflowed. The 10,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled primarily into the streets and gutters along 23rd and 24th streets. Some of the flow flowed east of 24th Street into the storm drain on the south side of 13th Avenue.

The Public Works Vac Truck recovered nearly 2,000 gallons and transported it to a landfill.

The affected areas were treated and returned to normal. The leak has been reported to the competent authorities.
