Five personnel of the Narayanganj district police have been suspended on charges of carrying out extortion from cattle-laden vehicles.

The suspended officers are SI of Roopganj Thana Sheikh Nazrul Islam, SI of Police Lines Md Asaduzzaman and constables Md Nazir Sheikh, Jugal Mondal and Tanvir Hossain Akash.

This was stated in a press release from police headquarters on Saturday (June 15).

An inquiry committee headed by Narayanganj District Additional Police Super (Crime) has been formed to probe the incident.

Departmental action will be taken against the accused police personnel as per rules, based on the committee report.
