Free travel for women after studying: Minister

Anantapur: Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy on Saturday announced that official teams are investigating the free travel made available to women in road transport company (RTC) buses in the states of Karnataka and Telangana.

“The study aims to find out whether there have been any problems in the implementation of free travel for women in the two states. We will ensure that these issues do not arise in Andhra Pradesh,” he noted.

Ramprasad Reddy underlined that clear guidelines will be set before women can travel for free in the APSRTC buses.

The minister was speaking to reporters when he arrived in Kadapa on Saturday after taking over as Minister of Transport, Youth and Sports. He had darshan at the Goddess Vijaya Durgamma shrine in Kadapa where the temple authorities extended the traditional welcome to him.

Ramprasad Reddy expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for making him the sole cabinet minister of Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts. He assured that he will do justice to his post while further strengthening the TDP in Kadapa area.

The minister stated that the state government is committed to recovering the looted money from the ministers and leaders of the YSRC.
