Manistee Middle High School hosts Kids Safety Day

MANISTEE – Young people got to explore the emergency vehicles Saturday, play games, meet first responders and more, all in the name of safety.

The annual Kids Safety Day event was created to introduce families to a range of safety categories in a fun way before the summer holidays.

“It’s a little harder to say how many people are going to show up because they’re a little more spread out here,” said Alvin Rischel, Manistee County emergency management coordinator. “But the turnout has been pretty good so far.”

Attendees visited a number of interactive stands covering numerous facets of safety, including water safety, fire prevention and mental health.
