How your stolen iPhone ends up in one Chinese city market

Ricki Hewitt was waiting for a taxi in central Manchester after a night out in March when a couple bumped into him. Within minutes he realized his new £1,000 iPhone 15 Pro had been taken from his pocket.

The following month he watched in frustration via the Find My tracker app as his phone traveled around the city, including to one address in Gorton for three weeks. He told Greater Manchester Police but they said they could not attend the address based on that information alone.

“Then I got a notification a few days ago and I saw, oh my God, my phone is in China,” said Hewitt, 30, a mental health counselor.
