Kanpur: The body was found in a nullah near Guptar Ghat in Pheel Khana area of ​​the city on Friday, which was identified as that of a head constable of police. Police said the deceased was identified as Khem Chandra (50), resident of Larauni village of Mauranipur Bamhauri Police Station in Jhansi district. He was posted as Head Constable (HCP) in Kanpur Reserve Police Lines. He left his room around 4:30 PM on Thursday evening. When he returned to the police lines late in the evening, his colleagues tried to contact him, but in vain as the phone was switched off. His relatives were also unable to contact him. Later, his body was found in a nullah near Guptar Ghat on Friday morning. According to police, a uniform and a belt were found with the body. Police sources, meanwhile, said Khem Chandra often went to a nearby liquor shop to buy liquor. He was identified by a rickshaw puller, the Sources further said, adding, “According to the rickshaw puller, he used to drop him from the liquor shop to the police line. The CCTV footage shows him walking towards the nullah which is close to the shop. In addition to investigating the call data, the police also scans the camera images. Few suspects have been arrested for questioning. Police further said that the son of the deceased head constable is a trainee sub-inspector and has been posted in Meerut. According to DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh, three teams have been formed to investigate the cause of the constable’s death. “We are exploring all possible angles,” the DCP further said.
