Ludhiana: Police have arrested a shopkeeper for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl by luring her with toffee. The suspect is approximately 34 years old. The victim’s mother told police that the man, a shopkeeper, had tried to molest the child some time ago when they were buying goods at the shop. The complainant said the suspect told them when they protested that if they felt that way, they shouldn’t come to the store. She said they stopped going to the store, but when she went to work, the defendants would come to their house and give chocolates and fudge to her daughter. On Friday, she said the accused again lured the child with toffee and raped her. . She said she found out when the child, who was bleeding, told her what happened. The victim’s mother informed the police and took her to the hospital for medical examination. tnn
