The best Transformers movie according to Rotten Tomatoes

After Bee’s brilliant solo outing that had fans losing it during their first real look at a live-action Cybertron, it’s nothing but a nosedive for the rest of the films that make up the entire Transformers timeline. The runner-up from the beloved spinoff is “Transformers,” which earned 57%. 2023’s ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ sneaks behind with a disappointing 52%; Financially the film didn’t do great either, as the Transformers franchise saw a dip at the box office and “Rise of the Beasts” earned the lowest total of $438 million worldwide.

From there, the critics sharpen their knives to even greater lengths. The third film in the franchise, 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, achieved a score of 35%. Its predecessor, 2009’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, received an awful 20%. Next up is 2014’s ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ at 18%, and 2017’s ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ at an embarrassing 16%.

But fear not, Transformers fans, because there’s a movie coming that could finally break the curse of irate critics. The trailer for ‘Transformers One’ debuted Chris Hemsworth’s Optimus Prime in an animated origin story, and it doesn’t look bad. We can only cross our cogs, cogs and everything else that makes up our robot heroes so that they do something right this time, and the only low number that ‘Transformers One’ sees is in the title.
