E-Office to provide better public services and ensure transparency: PM

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that the main objective behind the use of E-Office system in the ministries and departments of the federal government would be to provide better services to the public, besides ensuring transparency in the government system. The Prime Minister chaired an important review meeting on the transition of the federal government’s ministries and departments to E-Office. The meeting was attended by Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information and Technology Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Prime Minister Coordinator Rana Ahsan Afzal and other relevant senior officials, Prime Minister Office Media Wing said in a press release. During the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that this system would save billions of rupees in the national exchequer and the reduced use of paper would also have a positive impact on the environment. He also directed the simplification and security of the e-office system. The Prime Minister ordered to expedite work on matters related to a cooperation agreement with Huawei, a Chinese company. The meeting was briefed on the progress made on the E-Office system, its implementation and reforms. Key performance indicators have been established to evaluate the success of this system. While the review of the National Information Technology Board was also initiated, it was further added.
