Imtiaz Ali, the critically acclaimed director known for his thought-provoking and coming-of-age films, is celebrating his birthday today. Born on June 16, 1971, Imtiaz has gained special recognition in the Hindi film industry with his unique filmmaking style and ability to portray complex emotions through his characters on the big screen.

He is often regarded as the ‘master of love stories’ for his works like Socha Na Tha, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar, Jab We Met and Highway. His stories and the intricacies of their characters have struck a chord with the audience, especially the younger generations.

The film follows Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) and Tara (Deepika Padukone). They fall in love during a holiday in Corsica. Despite keeping their identities secret, they meet again upon their return to Delhi. Now their relationship takes a turn as their real identities are revealed to each other.

Upcoming projects

After the release of Chamkila, the filmmaker has assured his fans that he has a number of scripts ready to be adapted into films.

During his recent media talk, Imtiaz said, “Due to Covid, I had a lot of time to work on scripts. I’ve written a lot of scripts and they’re all done. So now I’m going to make films, one after another. I am a director and as such I should direct the set. I hope I can now release films faster than before.”

He also added that he cannot share the details of his upcoming film at the moment, but it would be based on a genre he enjoys the most.
