Father’s Day is the perfect opportunity to focus on an often overlooked gift: skin care. Although skin care is often associated with women, it is just as important for men. Men’s skin differs from women’s; it is generally thicker, oilier and more sensitive to specific irritations, especially from shaving. That’s why a tailor-made skin care program is essential. Good skin care helps maintain healthy, vibrant skin and prevents common problems such as dryness, irritation and signs of aging. By gifting skin care essentials, you can help dads adopt a routine that meets their unique needs to keep their skin in top condition. Keep these basic supplies in mind to get started. The basis of any skin care routine is a good cleanser. A facial cleanser helps remove dirt, oil and impurities that accumulate during the day. For men, a gel or foam cleanser works well, especially for those with oily or combination skin. For people with dry or sensitive skin, a cream-based cleanser can be more soothing and less drying. Look for products with natural ingredients such as aloe vera or chamomile for gentle cleansing.

2. Peeling

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, promoting a smoother and brighter complexion. Exfoliation also prevents ingrown hairs, a common problem with shaving. Aim to exfoliate 1-3 times a week, depending on your skin type. Physical exfoliants with small, gentle particles or chemical exfoliants containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) may be helpful.

3. Moisturizer

Moisturizing is essential to keep the skin hydrated and create a barrier against environmental damage. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin and ceramides are great for hydration without leaving the skin feeling greasy. For more intense and long-lasting hydration, advanced treatments such as bio-remodeling and hydrostretch therapy can be very effective.

Bio-remodeling treatments, such as Profhilo, use ultra-pure hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and improve elasticity in areas such as the face, neck and hands. This approach stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in healthier and more radiant skin.

Another recommended option is Viscoderm Hydrobooster. This treatment uses stabilized hyaluronic acid to hydrate and revitalize tissues with minimal discomfort. It helps reduce wrinkles, refine skin texture and improve elasticity, especially around the mouth, eyes and forehead.

4. Sunscreen

One of the most critical but often neglected steps in a skin care routine is sunscreen. Protecting the skin from harmful UV rays can prevent premature aging and reduce the risk of skin cancer. For daily use, a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher is recommended. Many modern sunscreens are formulated to be lightweight and non-greasy, making them suitable for everyday use. For convenience, consider a moisturizer with built-in SPF.

5. Essential shaving supplies

Shaving can be hard on the skin and can cause irritation, redness and razor burn. An aftershave balm can soothe and hydrate freshly shaved skin. Opt for alcohol-free balms with soothing ingredients such as aloe vera, witch hazel and chamomile, which help reduce irritation and promote healing. Moreover, beard oil is an essential part of grooming. It helps keep the beard soft, shiny and healthy and moisturizes the skin underneath. Look for oils with natural ingredients like argan oil, jojoba oil and vitamin E, which provide nourishment without leaving a greasy residue.

6. Serum

Serums are packed with active ingredients that tackle specific skin problems, such as aging, pigmentation or dryness. For dads new to skin care, a simple hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid can provide an extra layer of moisture. For those looking to address signs of aging, a serum with retinol or vitamin C may be helpful.

7. Eye cream and lip balm

The skin around the eyes is delicate and often the first area to show signs of aging and fatigue. An eye cream can help reduce puffiness, dark circles and fine lines. Look for products with caffeine, peptides or antioxidants for best results. Often neglected, lip care is also important. A good lip balm can prevent chapped lips and keep them hydrated. Choose a balm with SPF to protect lips from sun damage.
