Sporting Kansas City continues the club’s pursuit of a record-equaling fifth US Open Cup trophy on Wednesday, July 10, against MLS rival FC Dallas in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

The winner between Sporting Kansas City and FC Dallas will host the winner between Atlanta United (MLS) and Indy Eleven (USL Championship) in the semi-finals.

The US Open Cup, named after former Kansas City Wizards owner Lamar Hunt, has crowned a champion since 1914, and Sporting has won the U.S. Open Cup four times (2004, 2012, 2015, 2017), equaling the most MLS clubs.

Sporting has won 27 US Open Cup games since 2012, more than any other team in American soccer, in a streak that includes an active 14-game unbeaten run at home in the US Open Cup since the start of 2015. Sporting and Dallas have met five times in the US Open Cup – all in Kansas City – with Sporting advancing all five times, outscoring Dallas 20-6.
