Gladiator 2 takes place nearly two decades after the events of the first film, with Lucius now of age and estranged from his mother Lucilla, having been sent far away from the Roman Empire as a child to the North African region of Numidia.

The movie begins in Numidia, with viewers seeing Lucius enjoying a relatively easy life with his wife and child. But he’s forced to take action following the Romans’ ruthless and continued descent into North Africa, going up against General Acacius (Pascal) in the process.

Nielsen reprises her role as Lucilla in the film, with Sir Derek Jacobi returning as Senator Gracchus.

Gladiator 2 has a new release date of November 15 in the UK – having been brought forward from its originally-planned November 22 release date.

Washington’s role is teased as a former slave turned wealthy merchant with influence in the Roman court, while Quinn and The White Lotus actor Fred Hechinger play respective co-emperors Caracalla and Geta.

Hechinger replaced Barry Keoghan in Gladiator 2 after the Saltburn actor had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts.

Gladiator 2 will be released in UK cinemas on November 15 and in US cinemas on November 22.
