Essex Fire Brigade partners with ambulance service for faster emergency response

Frinton and Dunmow fire stations are now emergency response stations for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) as part of a three-year partnership with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS).

The initiative aims to bring emergency resources closer to local communities, benefiting both services’ personnel and improving public safety.

“Working with the ambulance service is not a new initiative, crews work together on an incident basis on a daily basis. However, this fantastic opportunity to work together allows us to work more closely and provide an even better service to the communities we serve. We will definitely be looking to expand this project to more fire stations in the future.”

Moira Brown, Deputy Fire Chief, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.

The collaboration includes the sharing of station facilities, such as vehicle charging stations.

“Having these response posts in local communities means we can respond more quickly to medical emergencies and provide help and support to patients who need us. This builds on our joint partnership with Essex Fire Service, including the Community Wellbeing Officers who can help respond to people who have fallen and do not require an ambulance.”

Kate Vaughton, EEAST Deputy Director and Director of Integration.

This project underlines ECFRS and EEAST’s commitment to public safety and aims to provide an integrated approach to emergency response, ultimately saving more lives and better serving the people of Essex.
