Four Arrests for Vehicle and Weapon Theft in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Four people have been arrested in Adams County for allegedly stealing two vehicles, hunting equipment, weapons and devices.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said deputies responded to a home on Foster Mound Road on July 4 in connection with a burglary in progress.


Later that evening, officers found what they believed to be the stolen Chevrolet truck on Rainbow Street. They also saw several weapons in the front seat. Officers had the truck towed and seized the weapons.

Patten said officers spotted one of the suspects at a home on Kaiser Lake Road on July 16. When she saw the officers, the sheriff said Nancy Evans began throwing items into the woods. She was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Detectives said Evans was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and 10 grams of methamphetamine.

Witnesses told officers that Joseph Partridge was hiding in a camper in the same area where Evans was arrested. He was also wanted on outstanding warrants and was arrested.

Patten said officers found two other suspects, Jonathan Newman and Vicki Byrnes, on Rainbow Street on July 18. They were both wanted for questioning. Investigators said they were able to obtain evidence linking Byrnes and Newman to the burglary.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators were able to seize a .22 caliber derringer pistol, a Smith and Wesson 9mm, an M-1 Carbine rifle, compound bows, a crossbow, the Chevrolet truck, a Spanish revolver, a Ruger 6mm rifle and an illegal “sawn-off” Remington shotgun at various locations in the area.

Byrnes was charged with burglary and aggravated robbery. Newman was charged with burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery. Partridge was charged with a bench warrant FTA, burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery. Evans was charged with bench warrant, harboring a fugitive and possession of a Schedule II drug containing methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Patten said officers are still investigating and trying to find several more weapons and a stolen Toyota pickup truck. The truck is a 1987 model, white in color with a red tailgate and pipe bumpers.
