Thane: Safety barrier collapses at Siddheshwar Lake, no injuries reported

Early this morning, a safety barrier collapsed at Siddheshwar Lake in Patilwadi, Thane (West), prompting an immediate response from local authorities. The Disaster Management Cell was informed about the incident at around 7:38 AM by local representative Rajesh More.

According to the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, a portion of the retaining wall, about 20 feet long and 10 feet high, collapsed in front of the Mitali Building. The remaining portion of the wall is said to be in a precarious condition. The collapse also caused minor damage to the adjacent road, which has collapsed slightly.

Immediately after the incident, a team comprising local deputy Rajesh More, Disaster Management officials, deputy engineers from the Public Works Department (Uthalsar Ward Committee) and Disaster Management Cell personnel reached the spot in two pick-up trucks.

As a precautionary measure, the Disaster Management Team cordoned off the area with caution tape and set up barricades to ensure the safety of the public. No injuries were reported as a result of the wall collapse. The relevant departments have been informed of the incident and instructions for necessary measures have been issued.
