5 soldiers injured in road accident near Jalandhar

Five Indian Army personnel were injured early Saturday morning in Punjab’s Jalandhar district after an army truck collided with another vehicle on the busy Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway.

The incident took place around 6am near Suchi Pind village when a canter truck loaded with onions collided with the rear of the army truck from behind. Due to the impact of the crash, the army truck lost control and overturned on the right side of the road. Meanwhile, the canter truck veered and rammed into the median strip.

Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene and transported the five wounded soldiers to a local military hospital for medical attention. Police said two of the wounded soldiers were in serious condition, while the other three escaped with minor injuries.

An initial police investigation revealed that the driver of the Canter laden with onions fled the scene immediately after the accident. Once formal witness statements are submitted, authorities will file an official First Information Report and conduct further investigations.

No other details have been released at this time about the identities of the individuals involved or the organizations they represent, as the case is currently under investigation. Traffic on the busy highway was disrupted for a time as emergency services cleared the scene, but normal traffic flow has since resumed.
