Karachi Peoples Bus Service New Routes 2024

KARACHI: The Sindh Transport Department is set to announce three new routes for the Peoples Bus Service in Karachi.

According to Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the first new route from Hawksbay to Tower will commence on July 22. Following this, the Peoples Bus Service will extend Route 12 from Qaidabad, Korangi and Memon Goth to Tower from July 23, replacing the earlier route from Khokhrapar.

An electric bus route connecting Kathore to Numaish will start operating from July 24. In addition, a new route from Yousuf Goth to Tower will start operating from July 25. These additions are intended to provide cost-effective transportation options to the residents of Karachi.

The transport minister stressed that the introduction of these routes is part of a broader plan to improve the public transport system in Karachi. More buses and routes are expected to be introduced in the future to further improve the city’s transport network.

Last month, the Sindh government unveiled plans to improve the Peoples Bus Service, with a focus on addressing transportation challenges in Karachi. Minister Memon detailed initiatives to introduce more routes, after discussions with elected MPAs from Karachi, the deputy mayor and other officials. They agreed to launch new routes covering Malir, Kemari, Lyari and District West, with a particularly notable addition being a route from Numaish to Hawksbay.
