BREAKING: Two men arrested after shooting near Dundalk that leaves several people in hospital

Two men have been arrested after a shooting and assault that took place in a residential area near DundalkCo Louth on Friday evening.

Police arrested the men, both around 8:30 p.m., in connection with the investigation.

Three men, two in their 20s and one in his 50s, were injured in the incident.

Two of the injured were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment to their injuries. According to the Gardaí, “they are not believed to be life-threatening at this time”.

Two men are currently in custody at a police station in the Co Louth area following the shooting.

The Gardaí said in a statement: “A man (20) is currently in custody under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a police station in the area. Loud area”.

“A second man (aged 20) is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a police station in the Co Louth area.

“The investigation is still ongoing.”
