Google unveils Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold ahead of August launch

Pixel 9 Pro

Google has revealed official images of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, following numerous leaks in recent weeks. The manufacturer didn’t provide any other information, but AI is once again expected to be a key focus.

Google will reveal the rest on August 14, an unusually early launch for Pixel phones. Historically, they’ve typically released in October or November. The Pixel 9 series will therefore likely go on sale before the iPhone 16 family.

Rumors suggest the Pixel 9 family is growing. While Google has launched a standard and Pro model in previous years, this year there are four devices planned: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will get the same features, but the Pixel 9 Pro will be smaller in size. Presumably the same size as the standard Pixel 9, for those who want a smaller device without compromising on specs.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google’s second attempt at a foldable, and will fly under the same banner as the rest of the Pixel flagship devices. The original Pixel Fold never made it to Australia, but an image of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold can be found on Google’s Australian website, so the odds are certainly better this time around.
