Strangeness comes hot on the heels of a number of other major horror releases this year, including the recent satanic FBI horror Long legs.

In a four-star review of Long legs, The independentClarisse Loughrey wrote: “Long legs both marinate in the disturbing legacy of real-life serial killings – from Charles Manson’s henchmen to the codes of the Zodiac Killer and the frantic phone calls of the Weepy-Voiced Killer – and, in the later stages, goes big and in a way that wouldn’t be entirely out of place in one of those Seventies horror films with a title like “The Devil is My Neighbour and Sometimes We Go Bowling”.

“Nicolas Cage’s serial killer looks creepy, but also like he could be breeding exotic shorthair cats. The actor’s unpredictability has always served the descent into madness best, rather than characters who have made it feel comfortably at home (which is Willem Dafoe’s domain). And his performance here is at its best when he drops the “weird” affectations and speaks deeply and slowly, with a hellish intensity.”

Long legs is now playing in theaters.
