‘Suits’ Returns to TV This Fall with ‘LA’ Spinoff

NBC gets series order for new show from creator of US legal drama turned streaming giant

To take — the long-running American legal drama that somehow became a streaming behemoth last summer — is returning to conventional television this fall with a spinoff titled Suits: LA

NBC gave the spinoff a series order on Friday, Variety reported, with original To take creator Aaron Korsh is back on board as writer and executive producer.

While Korsh is returning, the cast of the original series — which featured a pre-royal Meghan Markle — is not. Instead, Arrow star Stephen Amell will lead a new cast in a new setting, moving the legal drama from New York City to the eponymous Los Angeles.

According to NBC’s logline, Suits: LA Ammel plays Ted Black, “a former federal prosecutor from New York” who “has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is in crisis and to survive he must embrace a role he has treated with disdain his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a terrific cast of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other as they are forced to intertwine their personal and professional lives.”

Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Bryan Greenberg will star in Suits: LAwhich is reportedly set in the same world as To take — the STU, or Suits Television Universe — as the American series, despite not (so far) featuring any cast members from the previous series.
