Improving taxpayer experience with new digital infrastructure

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has awarded the Taxnet 2.0 project to Bharti-Airtel, with an aim to significantly improve the taxpayer experience. The initiative, spearheaded by the Sunil Mittal-led telecom giant, will provide the Income Tax Department with improved network connectivity, facility management services and video conferencing capabilities.

Key features and improvements of Taxnet 2.0:

Enhanced security: The project will enhance the security of the Tax and Customs Administration portal, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and user privacy using advanced technology.

Revamped Network System: The new infrastructure will improve the department’s network and provide a more powerful user experience with better security.

Improved Reliability: Consistent service delivery across India will enhance the reliability of the ministry’s services.

Seamless connectivity: Users benefit from smooth and uninterrupted access to Income Tax Department services.

Improved tax services: Both citizens and businesses benefit from improved tax services.

Robust Network Connectivity Platform: The implementation of Taxnet 2.0 provides the Income Tax Administration with a reliable and efficient network connectivity platform.

This project represents a significant advancement over the current Taxnet 1.0 and addresses recent issues faced by taxpayers, such as discrepancies between data on Form 26AS and AIS (Annual Information Statement).

With Taxnet 2.0, taxpayers can count on a more secure, reliable and efficient tax return.
