Driver dies Saturday in crash at business in Independence

One person has died after crashing into a business early Saturday morning, Independence police said.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., a Nissan Altima was traveling south on Noland Road toward 35th Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the road and crashed into a Sonic Drive-In.

Officers patrolling the area noticed the accident shortly after it happened and went to the scene.

Emergency services attempted to save the driver’s life, but police reported he died from his injuries.

Police were unable to release the victim’s age or gender on Saturday.

No other information is available and an investigation is ongoing.
