In a shocking incident of road rage, a woman riding a scooter with her two children in Maharashtra’s Pune city was physically assaulted by a man and left bleeding on the road.

According to the victim’s testimony, the accused, who is said to be an elderly man, tried to overtake her while she was driving with her children. The incident took place on Pashan-Baner Link Road in Pune.

After the incident, the woman, identified as Jerlyn D Silva, made a video in which she claims he accelerated in an attempt to pass them, while she tried to stay out of his way.

“This man was driving behind me for almost 2km and I was driving on the left to help him, when he suddenly steered me to the left side of the road, angrily got out of his car and hit me so hard that I started bleeding immediately,” the woman can be heard saying in the now-viral video.

The woman also demanded justice and called for strict punishment for the accused, adding that the law and order situation in the city has been deteriorating lately. “I don’t know where we are going,” she said.

When contacted, an official from Chaturshringi police station said the victim had been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment while the car driver was detained pending formal disposal of the complaint, news agency IANS reported.

The incident caused a stir on social media, exactly two months after a 17-year-old minor was involved in a suspected drunk-driving collision with his Porsche, killing two people.
