Western sanctions and technological self-reliance helped Russia and China avoid the CrowdStrike Falcon outage?

Russia’s tech infrastructure emerged unscathed from a global IT outage that disrupted aviation, banking and other businesses worldwide. Russian officials said on July 19 that the country’s airlines and banks appeared unaffected by the outage. The Kremlin said it was largely spared thanks to measures Moscow took to counter Western sanctions against Russia. Windows 10 users around the world, including airports, banks and broadcasters, were hit by major outages on July 19. The meltdown was caused by a recent update to the U.S.-based CrowdStrike antivirus platform. Problems were reported in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Germany, Spain and the U.S.
