CBI conducts searches: CBI conducts searches on CR officials | Mumbai News

Mumbai: The CBI has raided the homes of a Central Railway (CR) technical inspector at Parel’s workshop and an assistant in the accounts department after two separate corruption cases were registered against them. One of the railway employees was found to have accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 through a mobile payment application, while the other had received it in the bank account of a relative from an agent, who is a prominent suspect in both cases. The Gujarat-based agent, Samir Dave, had bribed the railway official to gain favours for the various companies he represented. In one of the FIRs, the CBI had alleged that Kishor Kale, a technical inspector at Parel’s workshop, “regularly accepted undue benefits as a reward for unfairly favouring the companies represented by Samir Dave.” During further investigation, the CBI found that a company had supplied materials to Parel’s workshop by bypassing due process. On behalf of the company, Samir approached Dave Kale and asked for a favourable evaluation of the material in return for a bribe. Subsequently, Rs 5,000 was transferred directly to Kale’s account through a mobile payment application. In the second case, the CBI alleged that Dave had bribed Subhash Kumar Singh, an account executive with CR, to settle outstanding bills of around nine companies.
