CrowdStrike outage affected 8.5 million devices: Microsoft

Microsoft has revealed that the recent CrowdStrike-related incident affected approximately 8.5 million Windows devices. This figure represents less than 1 percent of Windows machines worldwide, according to a blog post written by David Weston, Microsoft’s vice president of enterprise and OS security.

This is the first time that Microsoft or CrowdStrike has publicly released concrete details about the scope of the recent disruption. The issue was the result of an update to CrowdStrike’s cybersecurity software, which caused crashes on affected Windows systems. It’s worth noting that Mac and Linux devices were not affected by this incident.
