The Massachusetts Pirates qualified for the Indoor Football League playoffs, but were defeated 44-24 by the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday night in Oklahoma, before 7,031 fans.

The Pirates had no answer for Tulsa quarterback Andre Sale, who threw for six touchdowns. Sale finished 20-for-31 through the air for 191 yards.

Alejandro Bennifield was 9-for-13 for 59 yards and one interception. Westford native Connor Degenhardt also played quarterback for the Pirates, scoring two of his team’s three touchdowns.

Degenhardt was 9-for-18 for 101 yards. He rushed for touchdowns of two and nine yards. Tulsa did well to shut out Pirates star running back Jimmie Robinson, who was limited to 10 yards on nine carries, though Robinson led the Pirates with nine catches for 64 yards.

The Lowell Pirates led 5-0 at halftime and scored the game’s final touchdown, with nearly all Tulsa in between.
