KLCC confirms car theft at parking service, suspect already arrested by police

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — In an alarming incident at Suria KLCC shopping mall yesterday, a vehicle entrusted to the mall’s valet parking service was stolen.

Suria KLCC management confirmed the theft on its Facebook page, saying the suspect was arrested shortly after using the car’s GPS system and reviewing CCTV footage.

“This is an unprecedented event for our valet parking operator as nothing like this has ever happened before,” the statement said.

“We are committed to reviewing and further strengthening our valet parking operator’s standard operating procedures to prevent future incidents.”

According to the statement, the vehicle was safely parked by the parking attendant before it was stolen.

The incident came to light when the car owner discovered the vehicle was missing when they returned, but the key remained safely stored at the valet counter.

After the theft was reported, Suria KLCC management announced that a comprehensive investigation was quickly launched in collaboration with local authorities. This led to the police and the mall’s security team reviewing CCTV footage, which revealed that an unknown person had managed to get into the vehicle and drive away.

Suria KLCC management stressed that the safety and security of their customers is their top priority.

This comes after a Facebook user named Zach Khai Shin posted a message saying he had gone to the mall for just half an hour to do a quick look around, but his Honda HRV crossover was gone when he went outside.

In his post he wrote that the GPS indicated that the car was found near Subang.
