Indian Women’s 4x400m Relay Team for Paris 2024: Meet Your Olympians

Jyothika Sri Dandi, Subha Venkatesan, Vithya Ramraj and Poovamma MR will represent the Indian women’s 4X400m relay team at the 2024 Paris Games.

Jyothika was part of the Indian mixed 4×400 relay team that set a national record by winning the gold medal at the inaugural Asian Relay Championships earlier this year. She initially wanted to become a doctor but later decided to pursue sports.

“I got 97 percent in class X and when I was in school, I actually wanted to become a doctor. But once I started playing sports, I couldn’t go back and think of becoming a doctor,” Jyothika told news agency PTI.

On the other hand, Subha, the 24-year-old athlete who hails from Trichy in Tamil Nadu, trained at the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) Centre of Chennai. She was part of the women’s 4x400m relay team that won a silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 2018.

Poovamma MR has previous experience performing at the Olympics. After receiving a two-year ban for a doping violation in 2021, she is now aiming for an inspiring show in Paris.

Vithya, born in Tamil Nadu, won bronze at the Asian Games last year, equalling a national record set by the legendary PT Usha. The 25-year-old also won a silver medal in the 4x400m mixed relay race.
