There have been several rumours that Sumona Chakravarti would not leave The Kapil Sharma Show of her own accord, with some reports claiming that she was not even informed about Kapil’s new show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. Some claimed that Sumona was “angry” with Kapil. Now, in an interview with News18, the actor has rubbished all the rumours and said that there is no truth in it at all. The former Bade Achhe Lagte Hai actor is back in India after finishing the shoot of Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 in Romania. The buzz got louder when she was away.

Sumona responds

Sumona said about it: “It’s so weird because literally a few days ago there was a really nice article. I had spoken to a journalist and said the exact opposite. Then of course two days later another publication decided to write an article saying the exact opposite. I had nothing to say because I was in Romania too.”

“I have said this before, I was part of a show which ended in July last year and it is not that you left or I was fired, the show ended in July and then we all moved on. Then we took up our own projects. I am doing Khatron Ke Khiladi. He (Kapil Sharma) did another show. It’s just that there is no bad blood at all. Why should I be angry (with Kapil)? He and I have worked before and I went to Romania,” she added.

Sumona was an important part of Kapil Sharma’s comedy show when it aired on the small screen in Comedy Nights With Kapil and later in The Kapil Sharma Show.

She was also asked if she was discouraged by all the negative messages about herself, to which the 36-year-old actor admitted that it doesn’t affect her anymore. It did affect her 20 years ago, when she started her career. Now, she has found a mantra to break free from the negativity, and that is to repeat and believe the phrase: “your opinion of me is not my responsibility.”

What awaits her?

Sumona is not part of The Great Indian Kapil Show. However, she will be seen in the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, which premieres on July 27.

She shared that she “surprised” herself by joining the show, and she’s excited to show her fans this side of her personality now that the show is airing soon. The actor admitted that she’s also looking forward to seeing how she fares on the show’s adventure meter.
