The road to India’s ODI team is tough for Hardik Pandya; he will have to work hard on his bowling to secure a place in the Champions Trophy squad

The past few months have been full of ups and downs for Hardik Pandya. Hardik Pandya, who was injured during last year’s ODI World Cup, has made a comeback after a long time. Earlier, he was injured during the Asia Cup in 2018, which kept him out of cricket for a long time. Hardik Pandya has lost the captaincy of India due to fitness issues.

In his place, the selectors have picked Suryakumar Yadav as the captain of the T20 team. However, there are still doubts over his place in the ODI team. Hardik is capable of bowling in the shortest format of the game but he has not played any ODIs since his comeback, so the BCCI will keep an eye on his bowling during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

According to reports, given the serious condition of Hardik’s previous injury, the BCCI will monitor him during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and then decide on his place in India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad. India will play only 6 ODIs before this tournament in Pakistan, for which the Indian selectors are already preparing.

Hardik Pandya has taken a break from the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka due to personal reasons, which means Hardik has only three matches left to make the ODI squad. India will then play the ODI series against England.

A BCCI source said, “But after returning from injury, he has performed exceptionally well by bowling just four overs in T20 cricket. But he has not been tested in the longer format. His stamina needs to be monitored. The selectors will keep an eye on how he performs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy later this year.”
