Most science sales occur around one of Florida’s many tax-free holidays. Next on the calendar is the tax-free back-to-school holiday, which lasts two weeks in late July and early August.

In Polk County, that represents a 7% savings.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming tax-free school holidays and what you can get for them.

When is the pre-school tax-free week in Florida?

Florida has a two-week tax holiday for school supplies, from July 29 through August 11. During this period, people can purchase various school supplies tax-free, within certain limits set by the state.

What can you buy during Florida’s back-to-school tax-free week?

This is what you can buy:

  • Teaching materials and jigsaw puzzles selling for $30 or less.
  • Most school supplies sell for $50 or less
  • Clothing, shoes and accessories sell for $100 or less. This means all footwear (except skis, flippers, roller skates, and ice skates); all clothing (except watches, watch straps, jewelry, umbrellas, and handkerchiefs); and purses or bags, including backpacks, diaper bags, fanny packs, and handbags.
  • Computers and related accessories for $1,500 or less (when purchased for noncommercial, personal use). This includes items such as calculators, desktops, e-book readers, handhelds, laptops, tablets, and tower computers. It also includes accessories such as keyboards, mice, modems, monitors, non-recreational software, other peripherals, personal digital assistants, and routers. It does not include cell phones, video game consoles, digital media receivers, or devices that are not primarily designed to process data.
