Amadou Onana will undergo a medical at Aston Villa on Sunday in preparation for a proposed £50million move from Everton.

Unai Emery is further strengthening his squad ahead of Aston Villa’s Champions League campaign and is not expected to have any difficulty agreeing a personal deal with Onana.

Onana made 72 appearances for Everton, including 37 last season in all competitions after joining from Lille for £30million in 2022.

Onana played for Belgium at the 2024 European Championship this summer, when his country was knocked out in the round of 16 by France.

Villa have already signed two central midfielders this summer: Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus and Ross Barkley from Luton Town.

When does the summer transfer window open and close?

The Summer transfer window 2024 in the Premier League and Scottish Premiership has officially opened.

Entries close on August 30 at 11pm UK time in England and 11.30pm in Scotland.

The Premier League and Scottish Premiership have brought forward Deadline Day to align with other major leagues in Europe. The cut-off dates were set after consultation with leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.
