Morena: An 11-year-old boy died after a noose was put around his neck while recording a prank for social media in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, police said on Sunday, July 21.

According to Ravi Bhadoria, sub-divisional police officer (SDOP), a video of the incident that took place in Ambah town on Saturday night has surfaced on social media.

Karan Parmar, a class 7 student, was playing with other children on the vacant lot near his house at the time, he said.

The alleged video taken by a boy at the scene shows Karan with a noose around his neck tied to a tree, pretending to be in pain while others around him continue to play.

According to police, the other children thought the boy was acting, but he soon lost consciousness.

The boy’s relatives arrived at the scene and took him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, authorities said.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, the SDOP said.
