Taoiseach Simon Harris is put to work at Glenties store

Taoiseach Simon Harris was much in demand during his visit to Glenties, where he was a speaker at the MacGill Summer School.

But despite this he still found time to chat to some locals, including the staff at the Inniskeel Cope Shop on the town’s main street.

Patsy McDyre was delighted to welcome the Taoiseach behind the counter of the store, which stocks everything from groceries and delicious homemade jams, newspapers, magazines, sweets and liquor stores to household goods and hardware.

And this wasn’t the first time she had welcomed a Taoiseach into the shop. A photo of Pasty with Simon Harris’ predecessor Leo Varakdar adorns the wall behind the counter.

“I’m glad Taoiseach Simon Harris came to see us,” she told Donegal Live. “I’ll hang the picture above Leo Vardadkar’s on the wall.”
