Missing persons stabbing leaves one woman seriously injured – NBC 6 South Florida

On Saturday night, a woman was brutally stabbed at Miami International Airport, causing chaos in the terminal for a short period of time.

The attack took place on the 4e floor of Terminal J in the arrivals hall around 11:30 p.m., Miami-Dade police said.

Investigators said a man stabbed the woman repeatedly and tried to throw her over the railing. The woman was able to escape and ran down the stairs to the 3rd floor where the police officers found her.

Initially, police received a report of a possible active shooter, which caused a brief disruption at the airport until officers determined the chaos was the result of the stabbing.

“There is no impact on airport operations and it is considered an isolated incident,” said Detective Angel Rodriguez.

Police said they arrested the suspect in the area where the stabbing occurred. They also said they recovered the knife used in the attack.

One passenger told NBC6 that she and her family heard arguing before the chaos broke out. “We heard the escalation of the fight and someone said run,” said Dana, a passenger who flew on Delta Airlines. “When they said run, we all ran.”

Detectives said they are trying to determine the relationship between the suspect and the woman. The motive for the attack is not clear. It is also unknown whether the man and woman were passengers.

The woman was taken to the JMH Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

Operations at the airport are back to normal.
