‘Rest spot of the future’ opens near Yosemite National Park

Automaker Rivian wants to change the travel experience for electric vehicle owners with this “first of its kind” electric vehicle charging station near the west entrance of Yosemite National Park in Groveland, California.

The new outpost will serve the thousands of visitors who travel through Groveland each day on their way to Yosemite National Park, which lies 24 miles to the east. Open to the public daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (24/7 access to fast charging for Rivian owners) The Rivian Yosemite Charging Outpost will feature amenities such as a lounge with a small library, a “Make your own” Trail mix station, free coffee and fountain to refill water bottles.

Outside, visitors will find five DC fast chargers and restrooms surrounded by landscaping featuring native plants and educational games that teach about sustainability. This is Rivian’s first foray into this type of structure, but it has plans to add more charging stations “around national parks and other heavily visited areas throughout the country.”
