Cyclist dies after his mobile phone explodes near Paramakudi

In a strange incident, a motorcyclist died of head injuries after his mobile phone exploded, causing him to skid and fall off his vehicle. The incident occurred near Paramakudi on Sunday.

According to police, the victim G. Rajini, 36, had his phone in his trouser pocket and was riding his motorcycle near Kamuthakudi on the Madurai-Paramakudi highway when the battery of his mobile phone suddenly exploded and he sustained burn injuries on his thigh.

He lost his balance and fell out of the vehicle, sustaining serious head injuries. He died at the scene.

According to the police, Rajini, who worked as a security guard in a bank, had gone to Madurai to buy clothes and was returning home when the strange accident took place.

R. Pandi (31), who was sitting next to him, also sustained bleeding injuries on his cheeks and shoulder and was admitted to the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College after receiving first aid at the government hospital in Paramakudi.
