A man and a woman from Yelm were both injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after their motorcycle crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 12 northeast of Packwood and struck a tractor-trailer, the Washington State Patrol said.

Richard C. Pigmon, 51, was riding a 2011 Harley-Davidson east on U.S. Highway 12 near mile marker 138 when the motorcycle crossed the center line about 3:15 p.m.

The motorcycle collided with a 2014 Kenworth pulling a trailer.

Richard Pigmon and his passenger, 52-year-old Lisa Pigmon, were both injured and transported to Harborview.

The driver of the Kenworth — Juan A. Garcia Martinez, 54, of Grandview — was not injured.

The semi-trailer and trailer had damage that had to be reported, while the motorcycle was a total loss.

The Pigmons both wore helmets and Martinez wore his seat belt.

According to state police, drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash, and the crash was caused by crossing the center line.
